Position Templates

Customize and save job descriptions, categories, and departments to use with your positions. Find out how to create position templates.

With position templates, you can customize and save the job descriptions, categories, and departments you use often. You can create position templates in your recruiting preferences and add them any time you create or edit a position.

Admin permission is required to create and edit position templates.


How to create a job description template

You can save up to 250 custom position descriptions.

To create a new job description template:

  1. Click the gear icon ⚙️ in the left sidebar.

  2. Hover over Templates and click Positions.

  3. Scroll to Job Descriptions.

  4. Click + Job Description.

  5. Enter a name for your template.

  6. Enter your job description (or choose one from the Insert Template dropdown) and customize it as needed.

  7. Select a folder to save the template in, if you like.

  8. Click Save.

Your template will be available from the Find a job description… dropdown on the Description section of a position’s settings. After you select the template from the dropdown, you can customize it further for that specific position.

Note: If your list exceeds the limit of 250 descriptions, you’ll need to delete enough descriptions to bring the list below the maximum before creating new ones.


How to create a job category

You can save up to 250 position categories.

To create a new job category:

  1. Click the gear icon ⚙️ in the left sidebar.

  2. Hover over Templates and click Positions.

  3. Scroll to Categories.

  4. and click + Position Category.

  5. Enter a name for your category.

  6. Click Save.

Your new category will be available from the Category dropdown on the Details section of a position’s settings.

Note: If your list exceeds the limit of 250 categories, you’ll need to delete enough categories to bring the list below the maximum before creating new ones.


How to manage departments

By default, Breezy users can enter any department value when they create a position. However, with department templates locked, users are limited to choosing from a list of up to 50 departments.

Department locking is available to customers on Business and Pro plans

To lock the department list:

  1. Click the gear icon ⚙️ in the left sidebar.

  2. Hover over Templates and click Positions.

  3. Scroll to Departments.

  4. Click the Limit to List toggle to lock.

To create a new department:

  1. Click the gear icon ⚙️ in the left sidebar.

  2. Hover over Templates and click Positions.

  3. Scroll to Departments.

  4. Click + Department.

  5. Enter a name for your department.

  6. Click Save.

Note: If your list exceeds the limit of 50 departments, you’ll need to delete enough departments to bring the list below the maximum before creating new ones.
