Reasons for Closing a Position

With Close Position Reasons enabled, you can assign a reason when you close a position and opt to move candidates to a disqualified stage in the position’s pipeline.

You can track the reasons positions were closed in the Closed Positions report.

Close Position Reasons are available to customers on paid plans.

Admin permission is required to enable Close Position Reasons.

Hiring manager permission is required to close a position.


How to enable reasons for closing a position

If you’re an admin, you can enable reasons for closing a position in your Company Settings.

  1. Click the gear icon ⚙️ in the left sidebar.

  2. Click Company Settings.

  3. Click General in the left sidebar.

  4. Click Position Data near the top of the screen.

  5. Click the toggle to enable Reasons for Closing a Position.

  6. Click Save Changes.

When enabled, Close Position Reasons applies to all positions.

When someone closes a positon, they’ll be prompted to choose a reason and will have the option to move all the candidates who were not hired to a disqualified stage in the pipeline.

How to customize reasons for closing a position

If you’re an admin, you can add, remove, and edit the options on the list of reasons.

  1. Click the gear icon ⚙️ in the left sidebar.

  2. Click Company Settings.

  3. Click General in the left sidebar.

  4. Click Position Data near the top of the screen.

  5. Find Reasons for Closing Position and click Edit Reasons.

  6. Find the correct reason on the list and make changes as needed:

    • Drag items to reorder the list

    • Click a title to edit a reason

    • Click the delete icon (trash can) to delete a reason

  7. Click + Reason to add a new reason to the list.

  8. Click Save Changes.
